The purpose of this site wasn’t to give constant attention to personal projects, but when there’s one coming around that really means something, or has an unusual twist, then we’ll go ahead and engage in a little play.

On Saturday night, the Savoy in Ferguson, will be home to a three-pack of musical treats, all featuring Steve Scorfina. There’ll be a film I co-directed with Mike Steinberg (and co-produced with Steinberg and Jon Scorfina), called “Old Dog, New Trick.” It’s the documentary history of our man of the evening, who’ll then be performing his new album, “Dog Trax,” while getting together with his old band, The Good Feellin’.

Now, The Good Feellin’ weren’t around just a couple years back. Instead, the group held court at teen towns and subterranean clubs all through Saint Louis, during the 1960′s. Their importance was recently cemented by being featured in the first few pages of the recent KSHE 95 tome. Having caught just a small handful of their songs, well… they were onto something. High-energy, British Invasion-infused rock, played by some young cats were reaching for something big.

No way to go back and figure out why such a talented group didn’t take it to the next level. But we can, for one evening, reflect with a smile on our faces.  A reunion after nearly four-decades is always a special thing and if this is the last time one happens, a rock fan in town doesn’t wanna be reliant on photos and videos to recreate the night.

A movie. A show. Another show. Sounds good to me.

The relevant ticket-and-time information is found in the article appearing in this week’s RFT. Though I’m chagrined to not see my collaborator MS in the piece, we’re still thankful for the play. You can click it here.
